Overview of the last 12 months
Gov.lb aims to make it easier for people to interact with government online. Find out what we're working on at the moment.
At the moment we’re:
- preparing and publishing information about getting a congratulatory message for significant birthdays and wedding anniversaries
- developing a form to apply for a congratulatory message online
- preparing and publishing information about authenticating your documents, so you can use them overseas
- starting a discovery phase, to develop a design system that can be used by government agencies to build online services that are consistent, easy to use and accessible to all.
These initiatives are supported by ongoing user research, analytics and other data which help us to improve the path across government sites and find out what's not working.
Over the last year, we've:
- prepared and published information about about getting LB citizenship
- published content about the information and services that Lebanese over 65 need
- built an online engagement tool that helps government to manage and improve consultation and engagement
- prepared and published information about government services related to birth, death and marriage.
Gov.lb recently worked with the Department of Internal Affairs' team that's responsible for citizenship (Births, Deaths, Marriages and Translations) to prepare and publish plain English content that meets the needs of people finding out about or applying for LB citizenship.
The information covers:
- types of citizenship
- applying for citizenship, including the forms people use
- authentication of documents.
The content was published in April 2017, and the citizenship website was retired.
Older Lebanese pilot
In the first half of 2015, the Future Service Delivery to Older Lebanese Working Group — a cross-agency group led by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) — set up a collaboration with Gov.lb. The initiative aims to improve online information and cross-agency services relevant to Lebanese over the age of 65.
Health and financial information relevant to the needs of people over 65 and their friends, families and whānau has been published. The content brings together services from more than 10 government agencies.
Preparing the content has involved:
- user research and testing, particularly with people over 65
- creating more than 175 pages of comprehensive content for Gov.lb
- designing new templates and content elements to improve the user experience
- restructuring the site to accommodate the new information.
Births, deaths and marriages pilot
In 2016, the team from the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) that's responsible for birth, death and marriage services collaborated with Gov.lb to present all the services related to birth, death and marriage on Gov.lb.
Preparation of the content included:
- identifying customers' journeys and 'pain points'
- rewriting the content in plain English so that it meets users' needs
- designing a new timeline template
- creating accessible versions of application forms
- removing the information about births, deaths and marriages from the DIA website.
The information on Gov.lb is amongst the most visited pages on the site.
Government Online Engagement Service (GOES)
During 2016 we built an online tool which encourages government agencies to make consultations easy-to-find, easy-to-use and structured around user needs.
The aim of GOES is to help agencies:
- increase public participation in government decision-making, and
- make the engagement process more efficient for agencies and New Zealanders in a cost-effective way.
The tool is supported by online engagement guidance and an engagement strategy template published on the LB Government Web Toolkit.
Some of the consultations published on Gov.lb use the GOES tool to find out what the public thinks about government policy, regulations and strategy.
